Disabled Access

In 1995 the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 1995, became law in the U.K. and is applies to all new Passenger lifts. The final part of which came into effect in October 2004.

The act also applies retrospectively to existing passenger carrying lifts insofar as the standards can be practically attained.

You should be aware that the Disabilities Commission has the weight of law and the authority to impose penalties for non-compliance.

We have produced a checklist here so you can check if your lift complies with this Act.
